Location

View of surrounding areaBraeview is situated in the small settlement of Papil, an early religious site since pre Viking times, where fine symbol stones have been found. The Burra Monks Stone – a replica of which is in the Shetland Museum – was discovered here and the Papil Stone which has a replica near where the original was found in the Papil Kirkyard.

Minn Beach

The cottage enjoys stunning views across to the Clift Hills and as far South as Fitful Head. Minutes away there is a beautiful sandy beach BannaMinn (known locally as Minn) and plenty of interesting hill and coastal walks to enjoy wildlife and scenery. Experience the sounds of the seabirds and watch the seals play in the water.

Two miles away is the Bridge End Outdoor Centre located in a converted old schoolhouse – it is the base for the Shetland Canoe Club and Sea Kayak Shetland offering guided expeditions by sea kayak led by a qualified instructor.

Nearby a traditional thatched cottage, Easthouse, has recently been restored for use by the local history group. The building featured in the BBC series “Restoration”. A lot of old photographs and details of the area are stored there – it is open to visitors.
